What
is the DPC?
"Bishop
Morlino meets with new body" by Mary
C. Uhler, Catholic Herald Staff, January 12,
2006 Issue
According
to the Catholic Herald publication, Bishop
Robert C. Morlino held a get-aquainted dinner
with the newly formed Diocesan Pastoral Council
(DPC) on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the Bishop
O'Connor Catholic Pastoral Center. According
to the Catholic Herald article, Bishop Morlino
explained that "the DPC is the sign of
unity with God's people and the bishop."
The DPC considers pastoral matters. The pastoral
priorities determine where the money is spent
according to priorities set by the bishop
in communication with the DPC. The DPC is
also needed to listen to the people so the
bishop can hear what faithful lay Christians
are thinking. The DPC will meet two or three
times a year. Current members include Mike
Lancaster, Barneveld; Fr. Kevin Holmes, Sauk
City; Brian Dulli, diocesan seminarian; Sr.
Jacqueline Tierney, Dane; Sr. Toni Harris,
Sinsinawa; Deacon Ray Lukesic and Mary Ann
Lukesic, Oregon; George Schmitz, Madison;
Maureen Arcand, Madison; Rebecca and Matt
Sande, Cambridge; John Van Wie, Wisconsin
